Closure of XCBF TC; new related project
XCBF TC members and observers:

OASIS rules permit and in some cases require OASIS staff to close a
technical committee that falls below certain activity indicators, such as
no meetings or specification ballots for a six month period, or the absence
of progress towards achieving its goals as set forth in its charter. [1]

The XCBF v1.1 specification was approved as an OASIS Standard in late
2003 [2]. The work is being implemented and used as an XML representation
of the well-known CBEFF biometrics data format. However, continuing work
on the specification has been completed. Accordingly, we declare the TC
closed. Members and other subscribers with a continuing interest in
biometrics e-commerce work are invited to join or monitor the
recently-announced OASIS Biometric Identity Assurance Services (BIAS)
Integration TC [3], whose first meeting will occur in mid-March [4].

We appreciate all of the contributions of the past and current
members of the OASIS XCBF TC. All of its work and correspondence will
remain permanently available to implementers and the public in our archives
at [5].

Best regards JBC
