Within the first few lines of the piece you cite appears the following sentence:
"Common Lisp (with CLOS) and Scheme represent the MIT approach to design and implementation."
There's no doubt a lot of truth in what the piece says, but I find it impossible to think seriously about it after reading that sentence.
