The lxprintf utility from the LTxml2 package (Edinburgh) can be used to
query the XSD files from the command line, eg
$ lxprintf -e '*[@type="xs:IDREF"]' "%s on %s\n" @name
'(ancestor::xs:element|ancestor::xs:attributeGroup)/@name' docbook.xsd
