Re: [ebxml-dev] ebxml from 30.000 feet in 20 minutes [ebxml newbie]
Kris,
Here's a quick set of Core Component/BIE examples - I would refer you to
the UN/CEFACT Core Components spec (which I assume you have reviewed)
for more details.
I would also recommend that you consider including Web Services in your
ebXML paper, as the ebXML Registry has the capability to represent Web
services. I am (as a member of the OASIS/ebXML Registry TC)
co-authoring a document on "Best Practices for Registering Web Services
in an ebXML Registry" - see [1] below for a URL to an e-mail message in
which the document is attached. Please note that the version in [1] is
not yet finalized - there will be some minor updates. The final version
should be on the ebXML Registry TC Web Site in the coming weeks.
Here are Core Component/BIE examples:
(1) Basic Core Component (BCC): Person.Name.Text
In XML document:
<PersonNameText>Kris Weissmann</PersonNameText>
NOTE: The OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) TC, which is following
the Core Components methdology, has tag naming conventions that require
"Text" to be removed - so the above element would be <PersonName>. There
are other such UBL rules that won't be used in these examples, to keep
them more generic.
(2) Basic Business Information Entity (BCC): US_Person.Name.Text
In XML document:
<USPersonNameText>John Smith</USPersonNameText>
(3) Aggregate Core Component (ACC): Person.Details (would contain
Person.Name.Text along with other other BCC's)
In XML document:
<PersonDetails>
<PersonNameText>Kris Weissmann</PersonNameText>
...other elements here such as date of birth, etc...
</PersonDetails>
(4) Aggregate Business Information Entity (ABIE): US_Person.Details
<US_PersonDetails>
<US_PersonNameText>John Smith</US_PersonNameText>
...other elements here such as date of birth, etc...
</US_PersonDetails>
Good Luck!
