Tom,
You should be able to grasp some efforts once the ebXML Adoption Update is
released (very soon - awaiting review and vote).  I would first direct you to
the work of Martin Roberts, BT using BPSS for telecommunications.



In addition, there is quite a bit of work evolving in automotive that is
particularly relevant here, and more information should be available by the end
of April.
