Notes from KMIP interop call, March 9
KMIP interop call, March 9
Attending: Mathias, Bruce, Krishna (IBM),
John, Steve (HP), Alan (SafeNet)

1. Recap of OASIS interop demo
mathias: The demos ran smoothly, lots
of traffic (two full days + Monday evening + Thursday half-day), lots of
fun :)

2. Statements of Use
mathias: mail from Bob regarding SoU
- needed by mid-April according to current schedule (3x SoU for server
implementations by the 15th)
mathias: OASIS requirements rather vague,
but at a minimum must include: 1) Successfully implementing the specification
in accordance with the conformance clauses specified (KMIP Spec section
12.1, which includes "at least one of the profiles" defined in
the profiles document), and 2) Statement whether its use included the interoperation
of multiple independent implementations
mathias: we are quite far along already
with the Use Cases demonstrated at RSA, but still some things missing (e.g.
Operation Policy Name attribute)
steve: need to do careful mapping of
conformance statement <-> implementation, and need to be careful
what we say in public statements (HP)
steve: are we stating we support the
message formats, or server functionality?
mathias: OASIS requirements vague enough
so that we can issue SoU while only supporting message format, but we need
to clarify this so that we are all on the same page
bruce: curious of what EMC's status
is wrt SoU since Bob is pushing for the spec to be out in mid-May (SoU
by mid-April)
mathias: Bob said implementation folks
onboard this week, should be joining POC call next week - don't have any
further info at this time

3. Interop at Key Management Summit
2010, May 4-5 (Tuesday-Wednesday), Lake Tahoe, Nevada http://2010.keymanagementsummit.org/
steve: looking to see if we can participate,
not in original budget so not so straightforward
mathias: will be discussing within IBM
this week
alan: talked to Paul, SafeNet could
possibly participate, but it depends on who else is coming
bruce: would be good to have more than
one server and more than one client

4. Updating of implementations
mathias: spec changes will impact implementations
(e.g. Usage Limits, revocation of active objects required before they are
destroyed) - will not change deployed servers for now, but agree on when
to do it on Tuesday's POC call

5. Daylight saving time, next weeks
call (March 16)
mathias: US changing to Daylight Saving
Time on Sunday - POC call scheduled in CET, so the call will be one hour
later for folks in the US for the next two weeks

Regards,
Mathias
