KMIP port from IANA?

On that topic, I'd like to see the original HTTP based transport for KMIP
reinstated. That way there is less of an issue for a separate IANA port to be
registered and also it helps to be able to operate in a real-world context of
proxy servers and other such fun things.

I'm happy to work on a proposal along those lines if others are interested in
adding support for that into their respective servers.
