The default of the type attribute of <value>

In the full syntax BNF in Section 3, we have 

	<value [type="NCName"]> string </value>

In the simple syntax BNF in Section 5, we have 

	<data type="NCName" datatypeLibrary="anyURI">

But Section 4 does not mention the type attribute.  Is the default "token"?  No 
matter which datatype library is used?
