Action Item on Conformance, Test
Folks,

I took an action item at the recent
F2F meeting to prepare material that makes a proposal for the approach
to Conformance and

Testing for the Assembly specification.
This email contains a proposal for this action:

1) An updated specification document
based on CD01-rev2

- Introduced a new appendix "Conformance
Items", which is designed to contain a list of the detailed conformance
requirements of

the specification, each with a label.
Each label is also a bookmark, so that it can be referenced from
elsewhere in the document.

- Revised section 4 "Implementation
and Component Type" for RFC 2119 and to include conformance item references
for each

conformance point in the section.

-> there are editorial changes in
Section 4 to remove RFC 2119 keywords from descriptive text.

-> for the normative sections, added
RFC 2119 wording for each assertion that goes beyond simple exposition
of an XSD structure

eg the need for service element @name
attributes to be unique within a given <componentType/>

-> each assertion is followed by
a tag which identifies the conformance item via its label - the tag is
rendered as a bookmark cross

reference to the item in the conformance
requirements table

-> Removed some material relating
to intents and policySets which made normative assertions which were inappropriate
in this

section of the specification (they belong
in the section relating to components).

2) A Conformance Test document

This is a document which holds a section
on conformance assertions, which are the basis for one or more testcases.

These assertions relate back to the
"Conformance Items" list in the Assembly specification

There follows a section which details
the testcases.

I hope that this forms a good basis
on which to progress with the conformance and test activities.

Yours,  Mike.
