Vienna F2F - route from Hotel to meeting venue

The attached map shows the location of hotel and venue.

The red circles indicate where the subway entrances/exits are: you would travel on the U2 (purple line), from Karlsplatz to Schottentor. Alternately, walk another 200m on to the Opernring and take a tram 1 or D towards Schottentor. It's a good 30min walk otherwise, taking you around the famous Ring, where you will pass the large proportion of the 19th century major buildings: Opera House, Natural History and Art History Museums, Parliament, City Hall and National Theatre, as well as getting a good view of the Royal Palace (Hofburg), National Library and other delights...reasonable view from the tram too, but subway: well that's the trade-off between service performance and non-essential benefits ;-)

Best deal for public transport is to buy a "Streifenkarte", an 8-journey ticket which you punch per journey
