Issue 036 - WS-Discovery - Discovery messages and managed mode
This issue is assigned the number 036. For further discussions on this issue, please refer to this issue number or use this thread. From: Vipul Modi Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2008 10:19 AM To: Ram Jeyaraman Subject: NEW Issue - WS-Discovery - Discovery messages and managed mode Please defer discussions on this issue until a time this issue is accepted and is assigned a number. Description: In the current specification describes the content of the discovery messages and behavior in the ad-hoc mode. The WSDL and section 3 specifies that the same messages are used in the managed mode as well when communicating with Discovery Proxy. There is no clear guidance on the content of these messages when used for managed mode. Furthermore the Section 3 indicates that a Target Service may be configured to send announcements (Hello and Bye) to a Discovery Proxy. However the Section 4.1 indicates that Hello must be sent multicast. Proposed Resolution: Clearly define managed mode. Defines the contents of the discovery messages in managed mode and define the behavior of Target Service, Client and Discovery Proxy in the managed mode.
