fair enough,

I ain't trolling and if the op is clarifying best practice in using
xpath within a sql context; then I would be lost ... I have avoided
doing this so far. I just do not know what

   multi-leg data filtering = a nonlinear hierarchical filtering, cousin logic

means ;) I am keen to understand though.

I do not mind this particular permathread coming up every once in a
while ... its useful to revisit assumptions;  for example, I sometimes
feel like I have taken a big step backwards on my decision some years
ago to use a XML database instead of RDBMS as my primary datasource
for my apps.  Most my apps consume and work with xml ... so it makes
sense, its just the 'simple' stuff that sometimes is unduly
complicated.
