Re: (off list) Anyone working with the prototype yet?

Ken wants feedback on his prototype, so here's a little:

I've been messing around with the Catalog of Discretion. I had to fix one
bit of disc2htm.xsl to get the desired display of interlocks. Attached
(if I remember to) is the new human-readable version that should be
posted on the Committee website, as the third document in part 5.2
(ACTION ITEM for Carmelo?). We might want to modify the link in part 4
of the work page to add a "latest incarnation" link as well.

Interestingly, Ken proposes to have a variable set of discretion-status
elements in xsltcfg.xml, the file that represents those aspects of each
test regime that can vary. The set of five statuses we have now seems
pretty generic, but I suppose that different W3C specs may lead to more
or fewer aspects of discretion. Item F in Germanium Man's checklist of
things to customize will have to expand to accommodate this notion.

(Background: in Ken's latest prototype, config.dtd represents the format
of a file of customization data. Customization takes you from Germanium
Man (generic framework) to Iron Man (instance for XSLT testing regime) or
a parallel document for other regimes. The file xsltcfg.xml is the data
specific to the XSLT instance.)

After scanning xsltcfg.xml, I can say for sure that we will need to
refine it based on the still-open design issues. It's going to need more
specs, at least XPath errata and REC-xml-stylesheet-19990629 (the
"Associating Stylesheets" 4-page spec). The structure of
citation-specifications/cite-spec/version-spec/spec looked a little
funky, since the last time Ken and I communicated about it, we were
discussing how to harmonize the spec-citations in the Catalog of
Discretion with these in the test-case catalog. Later, we'll also need
to review how important it is to harmonize discretionary-item and
gray-area design. At this moment, I have no favorite course of action
regarding spec citations, so I'm willing to plunge ahead with the
prototype test suite.
